Don't bother putting up a website without having your own domain name.
It's cheap - about $10 per year for .com and about $5 per year for a .us
domain. For that price you get your own name. For example, I own the
name, "requa.net". You may see higher prices, but I'm telling you that
you get nothing more by paying more. You'll get the lowest price and the
best service from
godaddy.com.
And, by the way, you probably don't want ot buy any of their extras either.
People are buying up names fast and you might have to use a little imagination. Names ending with other than .com are easier to get. The .org and .net names are a little easier to get. You can get a .info, .biz, or .ws name. All these are now open to everybody.
My favorite is the .us domain. Every other country uses it's two letter country code and now we can too. I recently got terragraphics.us after being unable to get the terragraphics.com name.
